Confederation of Professional Awarding Bodies (COPAB) Website Privacy Policy

This document outlines the COPAB privacy policy and how we collect, store and use personal information obtained via the websites on which this policy has been posted (together, the “Websites”) or in connection with invitations on our Websites to supply personal information.

Personal information

Collection and use of Personal Information

There are a number of opportunities on our Websites for you to provide us with personal information which identifies you as an individual such as your name, home or business address, email address and telephone number (“Personal Information”). You might also send us Personal Information in response to invitations on our Websites other than directly through our Websites, such as emailing your CV to an address appearing on our Websites in connection with member services with COPAB.

If you provide Personal Information in this way, it will be collected, processed and stored by COPAB which will process it only for the following purposes:

To provide products or services which you have requested or information which you have requested us to send to you on us or on our products and services;

To deal with any query which you may have in respect of the companies in the COPAB Confederation.

To anticipate or resolve any problems with any goods or services supplied to you;

To help us develop or improve products and services which may better meet your needs;

To allow us to administer or otherwise perform obligations under any agreement that may exist between us;

where you have supplied Personal Information in connection with potential recruitment opportunities, to process job applications; or

to support any of the above activities.

Additional uses of Personal Information

From time to time, we would like to use your Personal Information either to provide you with information on products and services which we think may be of interest to you or to contact you to assess your satisfaction with our products and services (which in either case may include contacting you by telephone).

While we believe that these further uses may be of benefit to you, we understand that you may not wish us to use your Personal Information in this way. Accordingly, we will not use your Personal Information for these purposes if you indicate that you do not wish us to use your Personal Information in this way at the time you submit the information.

In addition, if at any time you wish us to stop using your information for these further purposes please let us know by contacting the business within COPAB from which the communication originated or, if you do not know whom to contact, our Group Communications team at the address below.

In the case of email marketing communications, there will be a link at the bottom of each email providing a simple means of opting-out of receiving further emails from us.

Sharing of Personal Information

COPAB may share your Personal Information with other professional body members within COPAB.   Some of these companies may be located outside the European Economic Area (the “EEA”) but COPAB will only share your Personal Information for the purposes stated above, although the level of legal protection you enjoy outside the EEA may be less than the protection you would enjoy inside the EEA.

We may appoint third party organisations to assist us in providing you with the information, goods, products and services you request or to help us to in developing or improving our products and services (for example, through surveys). If we share your Personal Information with third party organisations in these circumstances, we will take steps to ensure that your Personal Information is transferred, held and used in strict accordance with this privacy policy and is only used for one of these purposes. Some of these organisations may be located outside the EEA where the level of legal protection you enjoy may be less than the protection you would enjoy within the EEA.

Sensitive personal data

If we require sensitive personal data (for example, in connection with an application for potential membership), then we will ensure that its collection and use is in accordance with the principles of data protection and data privacy set out in the EC Directive on Data Protection 95/46/EC as implemented by relevant national legislation.

Use of Internet protocol address

We may record and use Internet protocol (“IP”) addresses from time to time. An IP address is the unique reference  number, which identifies the computer you are using. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our website and to gather broad information about use of our site (frequency and times of your visits etc.). If you do not agree to such use, please do not use our Websites.

We sometimes provide links to websites outside of the COPAB of professional bodies that may be industry related or links we may find helpful to the user. Although, we choose these links very carefully they are selected for the user’s convenience only and do not constitute endorsement or approval by COPAB, or any other organisation in the COPAB group of professional bodies, of the content, privacy policies or practices of that site nor any products or services which may be offered through those sites.
